Simon Forbes ( born 1950) describes himself as a left-handed dyslexic who finished public school at 16 to serve an apprentice hairdresser in Surrey.
He has since become one of London’s best know hair designers. From 1971 to 1979 he worked as a creative
director for Alan International, responsible for teaching trainee hairdressers. Then in July 1980, Forbes opened his own salon, Antenna, creating new punk styles and a diversified approach to cutting and colouring hair. His most
memorable invention is the development of synthetic hair
extensions, popularised by Boy George. In 1985 Antenna began to market these, and a range of hair tolls and products.
